The NRL Grand Final Pre-Game Entertainment is often one of the most talked and commented about entertainment bookings in Australia.
A complex assignment with a range of objectives to be covered – engagement and entertainment with key demographics both in stadium and watching nationally and internationally through broadcast partners.
Debate was raging in the country about the vote on Marriage Equality. Sound Advice Music recommended US artist Macklemore be engaged for the 2017 Grand Final. A major global artist with hits including “Thrift Shop”, “Can’t Hold Us,” “Glorious” and “Same Love” – a song that represents equality for all – a key pillar of the NRL ‘Brand Values’.
The entertainment was largely welcomed as one of their best.
Macklemore on Twitter – “Performing Same Love at #NRLGF was one of the greatest honours of my career. Thank you @NRL for the opportunity and supporting equality.”
Huge demand for Macklemore, saw him return to the country later that year and deliver a string of phenomenal sold-out shows.
Importantly the people of Australia went on to vote in favour of Marriage Equality.
